Feeling burned out, tired or frustrated?

Realize you are not alone. Free counseling is available to help with stress management. Counselors understand not only the disease process of your loved one, but can show you ways to cope and find solutions.

You may want to enlist the help of a private geriatric care manager. These are specialists who have emerged in the geriatric field to help individual caregivers find and coordinate all the help you may need such as home healthcare aides, nurses, or physical therapists.

Safety at Home

Many seniors would like to stay in their own homes as they age, but a fall or other accident or illness prevents them from feeling secure when alone.

Such fear can prematurely immobilize seniors by keeping them from getting enough exercise and by actually causing more falls.

Studies have shown that a lack of confidence leads to more falls after having the first one.

Can Live In Help Simplify Your Life?

When a person is discharged from a hospital or rehab facility to the home, full time care is needed for a few days to several weeks, depending on the patients rate of recovery.

Live in help is very economical and a wise choice for any client who needs ten or more hours per day of help. The cost is about the same and the amount of help doubled.

Another situation which is ideal for live in help is the patient or client who can no longer live alone, due to cognitive or physical decline.

Can Live In Help Give you a Higher Comfort Level?

Most clients prefer as few employees as possible. Live in cases generally have one primary live in and a couple of back up aides.

A good way of evaluating the need for live in help versus hourly round the clock help is to determine if one person can handle the care load. If not then the caregiver will ‘burn out’ and quit the job after a short period of time. Analyze the hours each day that the aide will need to be attentive. Note – A live in needs a good nights sleep in order to provide care the next day.
